Children of Men is one of the best movies I’ve seen in years. It’s beautiful despite the absolutely terrifying future it portrays. I haven’t come away from a movie so moved since… never. It’s strange how uplifting such a depressing subject can be.
There are several scenes in the movie shot so naturally one forgets it’s a movie. There are also several continuous takes and much of the camera work was done on foot in natural light. There are a lot of background references to the present, and to contemporary politics that reward the attentive.
I give it a 1. (My system is binary.)
